In this lesson, you will learn how to develop side characters for a fantasy storyline. Instructor Daxiong Guo will show how to utilize shapes to design these characters. You will learn the different roles these characters can play within your story. Watch as Daxiong creates each character from conception and penciling to finalizing the drawings with ink.

This lesson belongs to Character Development for Comics and Illustration. In this 11-week course, illustrator Daxiong Guo will introduce you to his process of character development. You will learn how to conceptualize different stories and styles in illustration and comic art. Daxiong will demonstrate how to develop characters in a variety of styles, introducing you to the characteristics and lore of each. He will cover fantasy style, American comics, and traditional Asian illustration. Through this course, you will learn how to create your own characters in a range of styles to be prepared for any illustration project.
