Day17:
Today I followed Steven Huston’s course on hair. It was really intersting although sometimes when I follow a class I think “drawing from a reference woud be much more efficient”
But when I draw from a reference I often think “omg, I don’t kow what I am doing, I should rather continue the course I’ve started”…
Well, I think I will set up a proper schedule to define a balance between drawing practice and lessons. Hopefully I won’t have any more this feeling to do something completely chaotic and random.
And you, how do you share your time between lesson and practice?
Hello,
I followed the entire course, it was really intersting, so much information! I will certqinly come back to it very often.
I have started studying master’s drawing and painting with trace paper, and I was quite intrigued by a sketch from J.S.Sargent. The neck looks realy long to me, it’s almost the siye of the head. Is it an artistic choice, a lower point of view, the inclination of the head or did the model have just a long neck?
Hi Mariano, the day 6 portrait is amazing! I really like it. I think I will try to mix graphite and sanguine as well. Is there any course where I could learn this technique?
How big are your David’s sketches? I studied these 3D models as well, but I think I drew them much smaller.

the conté drawing looks great. I also really like the lightning of your day 6 painting 🙂
Hi Marcolino, great work, I really like your style.
I really like your work Andrew. You draw very clean contour and structural lines. Really cool.

I can already see some progress in the proportions of your drawings, keep it up 🙂
Hi André, this one is beautifull! I love the gradient from warm to colder colors and the vibrant ligthning on the wall, … it’s really really nice 🙂
From Day 9 to 13 I celebrated my 30th birthday with my friends and familly in the mountains. So between the table shaking during 8 hours in the train and the time spent with my relatives, I couldn’t draw much. I only drew a quick sketch to refresh my memory, and once I was back home, I tried to draw again the last head I drew on Day8. It’s not a success, I realised I have a hard time to understand the position of the skull and what’s going on with the torso and the neck…
It makes me realise that this chalenge is way more difficult than expected. In the next days I will have time for sure, so I will try to catch this up, meaning I will draw another head for each day I skiped.
Hi Natasha, It’s really inspiring to look at your work. Your drawings and paintings are so cool!
