Hi Paula ! I’m as surprised too that there’s no comments for the last days. I always love looking at your animal drawings !

The movement is well portrayed, they look very alive. It’s so pleasant to look at them and their different actions/movements 😀

    Hi Deborah,

Your trait is so clean, define and detailed, I love looking at the last illustration. From what I see also, the proportions are well done too.

I also can’t wait to see it full finished. Amazing work 😀

Hi Paul ! I love your last work : the portraits and the dynamic poses are well done. We can feel the mouvement

Also, your last thumbnails look very great. I have no clue at composition for the moment but it’s pleasing to see (particularly the stairs spiral movement and the focus centered rabbit). I also can’t wait to see how you’ll use colors to these kind of illustrations 🙂

Thank you very much Paula ! Yes you’re right, I will use this while studying it thank you 🙂

I won’t post the next few days because I will more “theorically” study rather than draw !

    DAY 15 – 06/06/2020

I feel like I understand better their volume and the proportions than I did 2 days ago with the pencil. I have a hard with “invisible ref hoof” which means I don’t understand them. I will pay better attention to that. The muscles part that I still can’t fully realise is the legs; I will try to work on it through digital picture tomorrow !

I won’t count this day in. I worked on figure drawing and forgot about animals, but that’s not the aim for this challenge so here is the only animal drawing I did a 1min horse head. I certainly should have put a more globale challenge but anyway !
I was pretty happy with my “first” few figure drawings but it’s a challenge about animals and I have no excuse to do a 30min animal session.

    DAY 14 – 04/06/2020

I am doing an overdose of horses. I didn’t realised it has been  already two weeks. I kinda miss doing my illustrations and portraits. Anyways so today was a gesture day. I did 5-10 min every drawing but without a chrono. Tomorrow I will begin figure drawing course to do a break from animals. I will continue to draw them everyday, and learn about their basic elements in any case.
So, I don’t think they look good but I think I’m better at this exercize than I was some days ago. At least some days ago I wasn’t able to use an ineffaceable pen since I was erasing a lot and doing the wrong lines.

    DAY 13 – 03/06/2020

Trying to think of everything : gesture, flow, action, proportions, elements forming the volume  (corners of bones, muscles). I don’t put a timer to not going fast about the gesture. Legs are too messy and I messed up proportions sometimes but it seem less off than what I did yesterday : so, great. I used a fountain pen instead of a pen, it less forgiving because I can’t do “light lines” with it but at the same time it’s a great tool to apply what I said. Drawing with fountain pen / pen changes my way of drawing : there’s a huge difference with the pencil drawings of some days ago. So I will continue to do it this way until my drawings have no more gesture/proportions/elements problems! Then, I think there will be a big difference when I’ll go back to pencil.

    Hi Deborah,

This portrait is awesome. I really like your rendereing and it seeing that you paid attention to the proportions !

You also progress so quickly, there’s a huge difference from the portraits of 3 pages ago 🙂

Hi Paul, art is my favorite subject and I appreciate too being able to discuss about it. I’m glad I could bring you another view of this quality/flaw trait that is perfectionnism.

Sadly I can completely understand it ; never being good enough, always being pull down and the worse: being expected to be someone you are not. It’s destructive to grow up after that.  However I try now to take control. Being in control of what you want and what you do. Now I can’t stop being so demanding with myself but it’s alright, I know it makes me improve faster to the style of art I’m aiming for. The artists I’m inspiring by also are very critical of their own art ; because that’s what made them improve all the way.

You’re right : appreciating what you’re doing is the most important. Art is not an homework, where you got a mark on. It’s about creating what you want. It should be a positive experience/journey ; and that joy is what will push you and make you continue to draw what  you like and this way you’ll improve. You’re improving, that’s sure, you’re on the right way.

This new exercise seems to be very good for what you’re looking for now ; “taking it easier” in art!

I read your message Deborah and I confirm that we’re all definetely not alone. But life is full of obstacles and pushing through them is what we’re doing! The overthinking too can be so exhausting. I love the quote “The only person standing in your way is you” because in the end, we have the choice. The past can’t be redone ; the past only exists in the way it affects our present. So it’s about always “working” on ourself and it’s going to pay off.
I completely agree with Deborah, you are both inspirational and the way you’re keeping up through the days of this (pretty long) challenge is also impressive.
