Day 52: working on getting those boxes!! I’ve realized my convergence accuracy can be real bad, so I did some of the drawabox 350 challenge drawing lines to track the convergence, but didn’t take pictures of that, and didn’t do it on this page. So I’ll be working on my boxes in the warmup!! No figures today :(( but a few faces 😬 gotta get back at em. I’m going on a bit of a quick road trip starting tomorrow so I’ll be trying to get some drawing in! Hopefully there will be lots of life drawings!

Haha thanks marcolino, I haven’t really looked back much, but I know this challenge has definitely helped me level up hugely! So that’s great. I think the object drawing has been very useful in new ways, right now it’s forcing me to learn perspective! But don’t know what effect it has on everything else. I would have to think for awhile on the question on approaching figures, I know my knowledge has certainly been increasing, and I’ve been doing new lessons of course, so the answer is probably for sure! But can’t really say how now at least lol.

Day 51: so I was looking through some of the drawabox lessons, and did some cylinder, box, ellipse exercises. Of course I did more exercises than what’s here but I didn’t want to post all of em. want to do more drawabox! Especially the section on object drawing, would do doubt help me in my endeavors much. So late tonight I had some fun attempting to draw fantastic artists, Steve Houston and others instagrams. That last one in the bottom right, I really just shouldn’t have done because it isn’t really purposeful at all, just tried to get anything down as quick as possible, was just trying to get one more done, it’s way too late,

Day 50!?! Wow I cannot believe it’s already halfway! Now I just have to do what I’ve done again hahaha. And if it isn’t evident already I’m going to keep trying and working on heads and faces everyday, but I’m also adding in figure, and the occasional object, and hopefully sooner than later some perspective stuff. Maybe will focus on one of these more than others in a given time. Anyway these figures here are mostly from following along with Karl gnass, the second page is especially rough, no kidding. Will try and spend more time tomorrow.

Hey Heidi, thanks so much for the encouraging words, I can lean to the negative a lot, but the positive reenforcement is much appreciated!! Its definitely a good reminder to try and be positive and realistic. Gotta keep pressing forward!

Day 49: ran out of time, it’s far too late now and I’m too tired to draw properly. So this is not great, but I guess I’ll have to make it up tomorrow! Did some productive art related things today, but it dosnt feel great at all when there isn’t much drawing done… dang. the one face… the object sketches didn’t turn out, and I can’t say I love what’s here, probably should have just spent a bit more time on them. Hopefully there will be more worth showing tomorrow

Yeah I totally get where your coming from! It’s an easy trap to fall into, especially when doing lots of heads individually, you can start to separate the two in the mind. I know Steve Houston says the head is the first gesture, Glenn says the head directs the body, (don’t quote me on that one it’s been awhile lol) while Karl Gnass and others teach to capture the biggest statement first, and then feel the gesture up through the head. But all of them really are the same principle, like you said, the head must connect to the big idea, it’s must be part of the gesture! Certainly don’t want tacked on heads that kill the gesture and feel disconnected from the whole!! Steve Houston said something on that too… Thanks much for bringing this to my attention though, I’ll try and keep it in mind!

Well said Christopher, and these are looking great!! It’s so cool to see how your attention to detail and accuracy Is coming through with these drawings. Love the fire illustration! I’ve been trying to work on spirit of the pose too, Karl is just such an outstanding teacher. The way he teaches shape/volume and the different stages, and how they overlap, wish I could talk about it more!! He teaches these concepts so clearly and practically. So excited to keep going through this awesome course! I’m still in formulation right now, but I think this section is super vital. I really want to try and take good notes like your doing, sink it in the brain!

Day 47: so I mainly followed along and drew with Karl gnass, so that was great, but that’s about it… those valued spheres were really half hearted attempts, wasn’t paying enough attention. don’t know, just having a hard time getting going lately I guess, still in the rut, can’t make it past quick sloppy drawings……. in a never ending state of warm up… we’ll see if we can get it going better tomorrow…

tried drawing my dog Lol, will try again

@marcolino haha yeah when you saw those jacked up ellipses on the toilet paper you knew who it was LOL.
yes, it’s just too true… actually thinking about what I’m doing is what’s difficult!! And I saw thise gestures in your thread, fantastic!! started watching a vid on YouTube but this one looks way better, thanks,  will try and give it a shot, this is pretty cool. The ballet/dancers like this are just so dynamic. My problem is that I never get past the warmup!! Lol, thanks much, I’ll try and think of how to spend my time more effectively.
