Love these – definitely hit the brief of dynamic anatomy. Very renaissance! Perhaps utilising a darker conte would help seperate the lights/halftones and your shadows? Though I guess form is subservient to gesture in these.

Great job here! I like the variety of linework you have going on! I feel like the eyes aren’t quite evenly spaced from your centre line. I’d be tempted to knock back the values on the fingers and teeth (particularly the wider ones to emphasise their wrapping around) to put the eyes clearly top of your heirarcy of interest. Well done!

Great work – lovely flowig forms! For me, the figures with varied resolve hold more interest. Really strong stuff, well done!

Some lovely brushy marks here! I like the fravture lines and that play of resolve vs gesture. I think the higher finish in the clouds on the top left is leading my eye out of the picture, I’d almost vignette the figure with the looser work so your focus is narrowed to the subject – but that may just be me.

Great job! That core shadow on the nose is great! I agree with the previous comments in having a greater seperation between dark and light and utilising structural lines to arrange the feature early on will push you on – keep it up!

    Hi Tim,

I like the looseness here – adds alot of energy, it’s almost vibrating! All underpinned by clearly defined lights and darks. Good stuff!

Thanks for the kind words! I was trying to seperate the face from the background in a fairly graphic manner using warm/cool, but perhaps you are right and the face could use some cooler tones to unify itI will bare this in mind next time,

    Best,

Nice mark making, underpinned by accurate drawing! I’d be tempted to push the contrasts a bit more and soften the edges further away from the face – saying that, I’m unsure of the style – I haven’t gotten round to watching the videos for it yet. Good going!

Gorgeous picture. Lovely sense of light and warmth. Nice simplification of the background, and I love the soft reds in her hair. Good stuff!
