Thanks, Deborah! I liked the way it turned out after all (even with my struggles with the digital rendering), and your insights were crucial for me in the process of this drawing 😊.
I’m happy that it reads clearly. Usually, I tend to rush ou hide the areas I don’t understand in the reference, and I tried to overcome that in this one.
Thanks, Deborah and Joshua! I’m so happy to see my progress during this challenge 😊
Day 29
I made some corrections and decided to render the tone. But it was a little frustrating to get it right digitally. These last few days, I switched to Photoshop since it was quicker and easier to fit in my routine. I was trying to mimic the traditional process the best I could, but I don’t like how it’s turning out in this drawing. I haven’t finished it yet, but after that, I’ll probably try to go back to good old paper.
Thanks a lot, Deborah! Your insights really helped me to see what I was doing wrong. For me, it’s tough to see the planes, lines, and perspective within the organic shape of the skull. It’s like my mind goes blank in wanting to draw something quickly, and I forget to think in simple forms. I’m still not very sure if it’s 100% correct right now, but it looks better.
Also, after coming back to the drawing today, I could see how much I got the proportions wrong 😨 . I noticed something was strange before, but I couldn’t tell exactly what it was. Now, I can’t help but laugh when I see both drawings next to each other 😂.
Day 28
Day 27
I started another skull; it’s still a very rough sketch. I’m taking my time to get the forms correctly, and to me, it already seems better than the first one I did in this challenge.
It’s great to have the 3D model as the reference. I’m so happy I could upgrade my subscription and gain access to the reference material here, I loved the quality of the images and 3D models, I’m sure going to use lots of those from now on.September 9, 2020 at 11:49 am in reply to: Deborah’s 100 Days of People and Perspective Drawing #751543Great work on those noses, Deborah! I liked that you studied from all those difficult angles, and I think you got a good solidity overall.
Hi Kat, you’ve been doing a great job on your drawings 😊
I agree with your comment about the pressure to post beautiful works on Instagram; it’s nice to have a safe place to grow and show the work on the not-so-pretty but crucial stages of drawing and learning. And yet your work here looks excellent; you have a good eye for proportions and rendering. I think you’ll be amazing by the end of the 100 days. Keep it up!
I’ve been low energy and unfocused these last two days. Tomorrow I hope to take time to organize and establish a roadmap for my drawing/painting studies.
To make up for day 24, I made a few scribbles of my and my boyfriend’s nose while we talked on video. Better than nothing, I suppose. 🤷♀️
For the left face in the drawings for day 25, I used a reference from NMA.

Day 25
Thanks, Deborah!
It’s hard for me to get the positions and angles right, especially when drawing the nose 😅! I also think I draw these faces very small, so it was even harder to make some details.
Day 22
Since September 1st, I’m also participating in a 30-day Instagram challenge; this one is about drawing from life. Although I’d like to keep those two challenges separate, for the sake of time today, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and paint an observational sketch of my sister while she was crocheting.
Yes, they truly are! I like his approach. Since I started watching his lessons, I feel that I’m more aware of some nuances of the form.

I love the way you carefully study and make notes, and it shows on your drawings how much you improved. It inspired me to do something like this in my own studies. I also liked the head drawings you’ve been making 😊 -
