    Hi Ereka

I was on here hoping for some kind of response or input to my work…by anyone really. A sort of affirmation that others are watching , learning and sharing. It’d be really great to have an active community here to share thoughts, ideas and insights as we go through the learning process. But, it does seem light on the community aspect. I understand tho it’s hard we are all so busy with life and it’s hard to commit to input everyday or even every week.

Anyway, for me personally I like to go through an entire demo then maybe even go through it again before I paint. But, painting IS what creates growth. Listen, watch, paint. We are all different in our learning process it’s a personal choice and to be frank if you don’t do the work you won’t get the growth. Do both and keep on painting.

Good luck with your painting and have fun!

    Heidi

Ahhh, these are really lovely pieces to view. You may feel as tho you don’t know what you are doing tho it is clear to me you are on the right trajectory.  I really enjoyed the fuller figure and the abstraction of the limbs really interesting!  My only advice would be encouragement to keep at it….

Hi Tim. What a fun subject and I like you included the original image of the steps. I can really sense the space and feeling of taking those steps down into that delightful descending ally of steps and houses. I enjoy the apparent spontaneity I sense here too.

Good day Andre! I’m enjoying what you are doing. I’m a student and learning to hone my eye. I can identify you are using soft edges to help areas recede and sharper more defined edges to attract the viewers eyes. That is nice. Specifically, soft on the right side (as the viewer) of the hair and harder more defined and dramatic on the left side of the portrait. The light is interesting, I’m not sure if I’ve identified it correctly. Maybe two light sources one from slightly below and one coming from the left side of the image…or maybe just one from lower left?? Which ever it is interesting and adds a certain mood to the image. (Reminds me of ‘The The’ album cover back in the day!!)  The left nostril looks good and solid right proportions however I view the right nostril appears to be absent it doesn’t feel solid to me. Possibly less defined because of the stronger light source there??  I notice the eye glasses are disproportionate and not symmetrical. Technically as the glasses recede into the picture they should become slightly smaller tho it seems you may have over emphasized that here. These are the only areas that to my eye seem to need some possible adjustment. All in all tho it seems you are doing well and on a good track with your art. Nice.

Maxlucon, my apologies for not acknowledging your response sooner. As an essential worker I suddenly was pulled from my studio and I still have not addressed working on this small painting since I posted it. Thanks so much for your view of where I might go with this. Be well, stay well!

half hour sketch that went longer and obviously I couldn't resist adding color. A shot tho which is a step in the right direction at least!

Absolutely love this class…I keep watching it over and over so much to garner from this. Finally, worked on three small studies…totally got sucked into the detail then fussed and fudged around…each attempt however was better than the last…putting the time in is the only way. Thanks NMA and Joseph Todorovitch…awesome class!

What can I say I’m digging this tutorial! Good stuff! I love the fluidity of the gesture…
