Somewhat better than what what I made last couple of days. At least I felt better with having a plan before starting the drawing. I think one of my main issues is getting to draw way too soon. Need to spend much more time thinking, planing and answering to what, why and how. Here the subject is a rural scene from France. The farmhouse is a focal point and that is the area of the highest contrast. I wanted to make drawing texture dominant with form or chiaroscuro being secondary. It is a Medium Major Key and High Minor Key.

Your studies are beautiful! You have an excellent grasp of value, composition, and perspective. As others have commented, I like your technique as well. Now that I’m trying to concentrate more on tonal studies and value design, I really appreciate your ability. A few of my favorites (among many) are Days 34, 35, 49 and 53. I can definitely relate to your comments about staying focused on the original idea without getting lost in the rendering!

Helo fellow artists I am back!

I did not post anything since Sunday and no I did not drop out of the art challenge!

What happened is we went camping and there was no signal at our camp site. However, I did draw every day braving all the moscitoes, deer flies and black flies.  The following is what I drew for the last 5 days:

Day 68, charcoal pencil on 9×12 paper. This was an entrance for visitor store, currently closed due to covid 19.

Day 72, Bon Echo rock in early afternoon sun. This was an interesting exercise, drawing the same subject in different parts of the day under different lighting conditions.

Day 73, charcoal on 9×12 paper. Scene across the street from the coffee shop I was sitting at this afternoon. This was a tough week keeping up with the daily drawing while camping, traveling, visiting and what not.
