Hi, just finished this commisioned painting of the titaness Themis, I wellcome all comments and critiques 😀

it’s an Oil painting 90×120 cms (about 35 x 47 in)

Hi Edgar, The drapery is great, the perspective on the pair of scales looks goof, the overall pose of Themis looks well established, the 2 value chiaroscuro seems to work however the overall composition confuses me it doesn’t feel designed by choice , I feel the shapes guide me through the image however they lose my attention at some point.

Hey Carlos! Thanks for your comments, you are right, the composition was done in a more random way, I thought it would contrast with the more serious figure of the Themis maybe it’s too much? 😜

Some lovely brushy marks here! I like the fravture lines and that play of resolve vs gesture. I think the higher finish in the clouds on the top left is leading my eye out of the picture, I’d almost vignette the figure with the looser work so your focus is narrowed to the subject – but that may just be me.
