In this lesson, instructor Daxiong Guo will share his philosophy on character design for illustration. You will learn to utilize shapes to create characters. Daxiong will teach you the different character types that aid in telling a compelling story. He will demonstrate how to create adolescent characters for a fantasy storyline. You will discover the variety of tools Daxiong utilizes to create his dynamic comic book illustrations.

This lesson belongs to Character Development for Comics and Illustration. In this 11-week course, illustrator Daxiong Guo will introduce you to his process of character development. You will learn how to conceptualize different stories and styles in illustration and comic art. Daxiong will demonstrate how to develop characters in a variety of styles, introducing you to the characteristics and lore of each. He will cover fantasy style, American comics, and traditional Asian illustration. Through this course, you will learn how to create your own characters in a range of styles to be prepared for any illustration project.
