Overview of Developing Characters in an Asian Style

In this lesson, instructor Daxiong Guo will demonstrate working in the traditional Asian illustration style. You will study the different characteristics that make up this style. Daxiong will show the traditional approaches and tools commonly used. You will learn how to bring an illustration together using ink and color.

This lesson belongs to Character Development for Comics and Illustration. In this 11-week course, illustrator Daxiong Guo will introduce you to his process of character development. You will learn how to conceptualize different stories and styles in illustration and comic art. Daxiong will demonstrate how to develop characters in a variety of styles, introducing you to the characteristics and lore of each. He will cover fantasy style, American comics, and traditional Asian illustration. Through this course, you will learn how to create your own characters in a range of styles to be prepared for any illustration project.
