I have been working on an oil painting study after William A Bouguereau’s Portrait of a Young Girl. I love the whimsical way he captures the subject especially in the hair and skin tones. The purpose of the study was to try to create a similar affect while creating depth. I hope to incorporate what I learn into my own portrait style. I started with a monochromatic underpainting in a gray/green on a canvas board. Then I slowly built up color using thin layers of color mixed with neo megilp. It is still a work in progress. I think I see some structural mistakes with the face. I already tried to correct the forehead. I would appreciate any critique or advice on my progress so far.
Thank you so much,
Jessica
