    I think these are studies from Giordano. Below is a favorite portrait. Really like watercolor/brush. Happy Monday!

    Really great stuff! You are a great example of how to do studies!

    @PaulDidier @LEWISMACKENZIE Hey, thank you!

    This is the last of my hand studies to show. For this portrait I used a felt-tip marker. A bit dry but I love ’em that way!

    That about does it. Working on a smaller sketchbook at the moment. Just need a break from my usual sized ones.

    What size sketchbooks do you generally use?

    @PaulDidier

    Hey. It’s varied throughout the years. From small Moleskines to average. The early pics I posted are from a 5×8 inch I think. The majority have been the usual 8.5×11 inch. Though I do have 2 big ones that I’ll use in the future.

    Not necessarily from a sketchbook or from this pandemic period either. But here’s a long-pose (4hr) figure drawing from 2018.

    Marcolino,

    I’m loving the box aesthetic on your bodies and the way you are able to still construct it around such dynamic gesture

    The amount of work you’ve put into studying hands is inspiring

    I think to take figure drawing to the next level I’d love to see you take your studies towards the head, face and facial features as you are so proficient with all the other areas already

    Keep up the good work!

    Leo

    Wow, thanks for the kind words and advice! Yeah, Heads are definitely my weak point and something I need to study more since I’ve spent so much on the figure itself.

    🙂

    Oh man! Long time since I dropped by. Been a long couple months. Dealt with some physical health issues so art took a backseat. Just finished up a sketchbook that took way longer than usual because of that. Kinda lost my mojo but slowly working towards where I was. Finished up Steve Huston’s Arm/Hand chapter this week too. But mainly, just been incredibly busy with some painting commissions as well. >_<

    Gonna be sharing a few pages for the next few days. Spent most of March doing warm-up sketches of Hokusai’s art. Love his stuff! So much humor and character! Other page is miscellaneous life drawing of people. Hope everyone is doing great!!!! Cheers

    Hello. I managed to get back to my arms/hands study from Huston’s book and finished that chapter this week by studying Luca Giordano. Other page is some actual life drawing, applying what I learned.
