Hi everybody!
First, I hope everyone’s OK.
Second, a big thank you to all the teachers for the courses provided here at the NMA. After almost a year, I still enjoy it a lot.
Last year I tried a challenge , legs and feet topic. I received encouraging advices from students and from Iliya Mirochnik, but I didn’t make it till the end: I felt ridicoulous in front of others students and due to my age (I’m 47), and could’nt get over being afraid of showing my work. I know it’s a common fear and part of the learning path. I decided to try another challenge, to encourage myself to embrace a topic that frightens me a lot: clothes and drapery. My main difficulty is that I don’t know how to look at a piece of clothe in a calm and simple way: I’m very soon confused and panicqued by what I see. I follow the drapery course that starts to help me, as well as the Iliya course.
My purpose is to be able to draw clothes in a simple, clear and living way, to make comics.
So I post my first drawing here, a 10 mn self portrait . I don’t use eraser so I can see what my reel level and mistakes are. I hope I won’t provoke a heart attak among you guys due to my lack of drawing skills!
Thank you!
