    Day 85. Just a quick master study of Sargent’s Theodore Roosevelt using oil pastels in my sketchbook. The bulky clothing gave me some trouble. I’ll try this one again using oil paint at some point and try to get a little more accurate.

    I love the face in particular here. I’m not a painter, but there seems to be a strong painterly quality here that looks really confident and well designed. Keep up the good work!

    Nice work. On that portrait, we all tend to move the face so it is facing us front-on (en face). Usually the head is rotated away from us or tilted somewhat. Make sure that you’re making a note of exactly where the eyes are. How much of the side of the head are you seeing compared to the front?

    Day 87. Another digital master study today because I’ve been too busy to paint. Hopefully tomorrow I will find some time to work on my self portrait oil painting. This is a a study of a self portrait by Edvard Munch (1882).

    Day 88. Another busy day today. All I had time for was a quick study of “Head of Saint Michael, from the Petrobelli Altarpiece” by
    Paolo Veronese (1564). This one was tough.
