This feels daunting. I often start things and don’t finish them. I don’t even know if I’ll be able to keep up for 100 days straight. But I would like to keep regular consistency at the least. So, I decided to sign myself up for this challenge to try to keep myself in check.
TOPICS: I would like to keep my topic OPEN. I get bored from doing the same thing. I would like to create something I look forward to on a regular basis (much like physical exercise). Therefore, I will focus on things that INSPIRE me. This includes everything from the Face/Hair, Hands, Botanicals, Sweets, Spirituality…
WHAT AM I LOOKING TO IMPROVE: My drawing skills (may or may not include use of colours). I would like to master the hatching/cross-hatching techniques ( as I tend to smudge – this comes more naturally) and many other things. I want my art to eventually look more refined. I want to wow myself.

Very structural. You have a much better understanding of the planes of the human face than me. Excited to learn more. What courses do you take here?
January 29, 2021 at 11:42 am #1142366Hi Khanh! * I hope you enjoy it here and learn a lot! I really like this online Academy. They also have a Discord Channel which is amazing.*
Thank you! As with everything I have many ideas and interests and trouble following through. So I have started a few courses but not finished. Anyhow, here is a list of what I started & what I started/and finished.
Started and finished:
- Beginners Guide to Drawing
- Stress Free Sketching for Beginners
Started and not finished:
- Composition for Visual Artists
- Intermediate Art Anatomy w/ Glenn Vilppu
- Color Theory Bootcamp
- Dynamic Gesture Drawing w/ Glenn Vilppu
- And the Russian Academic Drawing Approach with Illiya (I personally LOVE this course….and so I think I will just focus on this one for now until I somehow fully finish it. Then, I’ll move on to the other unfinished ones on the list).
I am also one of those crazy note-takers, so things take an extremely long time to go through.
January 29, 2021 at 11:52 am #1142382Wow! You are very dedicated to your notes, ahah. Wish I could say the same, but I do make it a note to fit in some figure drawing and videos from here everyday. I am currently taking Rey Bustos’s anatomy class, which has been great. I also plan on taking Glenn Vilppu’s class and thanks for the recommendation on Illiya’s class, I’ll check it out.
Didn’t know there was a discord, that’s great!
January 29, 2021 at 12:05 pm #1142412Everyday takes dedication, so thumbs up to you! Here is the discord link: https://discord.gg/uyGhKw3a

I’m impressed by the work you’ve been doing (and by your notetaking!), and I really like the challenge you’ve set for yourself. It looks like we have similar goals, and I look forward to following your thread. I’m also focusing right now on the Russian Academic courses – along with Steve Huston’s Constructive Head Drawing series – with the goal of developing the drawing fundamentals I was never taught in college art classes. Like you, I also want to master hatching. I’m naturally a smudger, too, so I understand being out of your comfort zone. I love your comment about wanting to wow yourself. I’m sure you will!
Also, great job on today’s Master Monday challenge! I love the delicacy and subtleness of your interpretation. It was a challenging study especially considering the time restraint!
