    Day 15D15

Day 15: I did a few gesture studies using ground charcoal, kneaded eraser, and a brush.  I’m getting the movement and emotion I was looking for and will focus on clarity now and hopefully combine the two ideas

Day 18:  Doing these are addicting now. I feel like every drawing things are starting to click.  Also the $1 box of chalkboard chalk works a lot better than my $5 stick of white charcoal

AJ I love that the model poses you are all dynamic…even the ones that are sitting.  Great progress!

    Hey AJ,

I’m liking all this figurative work and the delicate tonal schemes you’re working with. Sometimes the shading is just spot on and really creates a feeling of form and atmosphere. I’m did a draw-over of the most recent post to just help push those things even further.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing more work!

    Best,

    Iliya

Thank you Iliya for the great advice!  I will keep all that in mind and appreciate the time to check it out and do a work over 🙂 🙂

How can something be improving and looking more wrong at the same time?

This pose reminded me of the female version of the Peter Paul Rubens study I did on Day 12

    Day 24

Day 24:  Got a bit wild with the darks at the start!  What progress! My goals for this 100 challenge have changed to these three things till I can get them the way I like:

    1.  Creating distinct, prospectively accurate, gestural forms.
    2.  High Major Key /High Minor Key atmosphere ? (Not sure if I’m thinking of keys right here)
    3.  Compose the figure heavy on detail in good time

I basically want a nice understanding of realism without diving too deep into it, I also want to be able to whip out a nice quick gestural figure drawing to make full narrative drawings/paintings

By Day 80 I plan to do multiple figures ( I better get the finish I’m looking for by then to move on to that)

    day 25

Day 25:  Will focus on proportions because I’m getting lost in the background with the last couple making them wonky and stalky
