Digital Portraits After the Masters (Live Class)

In week one, Iliya Mirochnik will start with analyzing a master portrait painting. Then, you will learn how to build upon your skills in digital programs to construct a painting inspired by the master.

In week two, Iliya Mirochnikv will do a painting in the style of John Singer Sargent. You will learn the techniques that Sargent used in his paintings and how you can transfer that into your own work.

In week three, Iliya Mirochnik will make a master copy of an Oleg Lomakin painting using the painting software, Rebelle 4. You will learn how to use the program as well as how to painting in the style of Lomakin.

In week four, Iliya Mirochnik will paint an alla prima style painting influenced by Oleg Lomakin. You will learn how to use digital painting software in the manner of traditional oil painting sketches.

In week five, Iliya Mirochnik analyzes master watercolors by creating master copies in Rebelle 4. Using programs that imitate watercolor effects you will learn how to mix traditional watercolor techniques with digital painting techniques.

In week six, Iliya Mirochnik will paint a portrait in the style of Joaquín Sorolla. You will learn how to accurately render using digital watercolor tools to make a painting that looks and feels like traditional watercolor.

In week seven, Iliya Mirochnik will analyze a master portrait of Andrew Wyeth. You will learn how to replicate the watercolor techniques used in the masterwork in a digital format

In week eight, Iliya Mirochnik will analyze portraiture done in sculptures. Iliya will lecture on how the sculpture interpreted the portrait for themselves and how you can study from that.
