Constructive Figure Drawing II

In week one, instructor Steve Huston will teach you how to apply the principles of gesture and structure to the human figure.

In week two, instructor Steve Huston will focus on the ideal balance and stability of a figure’s gesture. You will learn the importance of connecting a series of gestures to create movement. Steve will describe the visual components of gesture and structure.

In week three, instructor Steve Huston will demonstrate his approach to long-pose charcoal drawing. He will share with you the necessary materials for charcoal drawing.

In week four, instructor Steve Huston will demonstrate figure drawing and rendering with three different models. Steve will isolate specific body parts from each model to illustrate his rendering approach.

In week five, instructor Steve Huston will show you how to work with the model to find a pose that is both pleasing to the eye and comfortable to hold for multiple hours. You will learn about value control based on the planes that make up the body’s forms.

In week six, instructor Steve Huston will teach you how to draw one of his most famous subjects: the boxer. You will master the key techniques for accurately replicating Huston’s signature style as you create a copy of his figure painting.

In week seven, instructor Steve Huston will demonstrate his charcoal and conté drawing technique on a reclining female figure.

In week eight, instructor Steve Huston will demonstrate his charcoal and conté drawing technique on a back view of a female figure.
