In this lesson, instructor Steve Huston will focus on the ideal balance and stability of a figure’s gesture. You will learn the importance of connecting a series of gestures to create movement. Steve will describe the visual components of gesture and structure. He will also illustrate how modifying a gesture can change the entire drawing.
This lesson belongs to the course Constructive Figure Drawing II. In this 8-week course, renowned artist Steve Huston will help you transform your figure drawing skills. With a focus on gesture and structure, Steve will guide you through a powerful and direct approach to capture the human form. You will tune in as he demonstrates multiple long poses using charcoal and conté crayons. By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills to make strong artistic statements and confidently visualize figures in three-dimensional space.
Throughout this course, you’ll have access to the NMA community for feedback and critiques to improve your work as you progress.
