In this lesson, instructor Ryan Benjamin will explain in-depth how to connect the parts of the figure to create actions. You will learn to exaggerate the standard male and female superhero poses. Then, you will practice establishing characters and emphasizing the key features to make them unique. Ryan will demonstrate drawing comic characters of different ages and body shapes.
This lesson belongs to the course Penciling and Inking for Comics. In this 5-week course, Ryan Benjamin will provide an informative guide on drawing comics. To begin, you will learn the drawing and inking materials needed for the course. Ryan will teach you the basics of cross-hatching. Then, you will explore the importance of primitives in constructing complex shapes. Ryan will show you how to apply the fundamental lighting principles to render comic characters. You will watch him set up a comic scene from a script. Lastly, you will study the different inking techniques used in comics. After this course, you will be able to create comics with speed and confidence.
