Description:
This is a 3D scan of a sculpture created by Jean-Antoine Houdon, 1741-1828. The Flayed Man, also known as L'Ecorche, was sculpted as an anatomical study for Houdon's marble sculpture of St. John the Baptist which resides in Santa Maria degli Angeli in Rome. L'Ecorche aka The Flayed Man can be found in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. We painted each muscle to make your anatomical studies easier. The color can be disabled in the materials tab under the "color map" option.
It was captured using the NMA Industrial Metrological Scanner. The forms and details are reproduced in unmatched quality, allowing you to analyze the forms without the distractions of color or movement or the limitations of a particular angle.
We encourage you to move the lights and camera around and practice drawing, painting, and sculpting from these figures with the help of the measure tool to improve your skill and understanding.
